NFL Snubs Jacksonville

WHAT?! No Monday Night Game?! Screw you NFL! We hand you THE highest ratings for a prime time game last year and you snub us? We battle with one of the best teams in the league last year, bring it down to the wire, have the same match up as this year and you think St Louis at Indy is a more intriguing match up?! No way man. Jacksonville deserved the Monday night slot against Pittsburgh this year.

I read, and I can't remember where, that Jacksonville vs Pittsburgh was the highest rated prime time game last year even though it was broadcast on ESPN. Oh well. The schedule looks pretty tough, eight of the first nine games against playoff teams. It's tough to figure out during the off season because, who knows, because of parity in the NFL all of those teams may suck this year. But the consensus was that the Jacksonville at Pittsburgh game this year would be a Monday night game. Good Lord, they gave Dallas and Washington a Monday night game. The Jaguars almost equaled the win total of both of those teams put together!

That is really wild. I wasn't thinking about Monday Night before but it sure would have been nice to have one. Ingrates! :)
It's especially galling because I don't hear anyone saying we're supposed to be worse this year. So a playoff bubble team on the rise doesn't get a game. Oh well.

Seems to me that the NFL suffers from a lack of foresight in regards to this. And they wonder why MNF ratings are sagging. Maybe it is because they don't look at teams that are on the way up as good candidates for prime time games.

I wonder if Jacksonville's market size has something to do with this. No idea though. :)
