If there's nothing else that can bring me out of blogging semi-retirement... its a good rant about sports. The winter Olympics are over and I couldn't be happier. I don't know what I would normally watch on NBC, but I do know that for two weeks, I've felt like I've had one less channel to watch on TV. I think that even if I had been even remotely interested in the Olympics or some of the story lines they tried to press prior to the games, the performances I saw on the highlights would have buried that.

Bode Miller completely characterizes this. Before the games I thought he was a jackass. After the games have ended, I hope everyone else realizes this. The funniest thing is that they had some 60 Minutes... or Good Morning America special on Robert Redford and his film "Downhill Racer" and it's parallels to Bode Miller. Redford had some quote about how the main character in Downhill Racer was a maverick and not very pleasant but all he did was win.

Anyway, nice going Bode Miller. Way to be an asshole and a loser.

Holy crap...what an ass. I wish they would just do away with all the backstories and celebrities. We should remember what this is all about - amateurs. Bode Miller reminds me of my point about college athletics. Once we start dumping money on these people they start to think they're something special.
